Beautiful Selenite heart from China

Selenite (CaSO₄·2H₂O) is a hydrous sulfate and a variety of gypsum with a fibrous or lamellar structure. Its Mohs hardness of 2 makes the material very soft, and selenite is water-soluble, which is why the piece should never be wiped with a damp cloth.

Chinese deposits supply selenite in solid block quality. The heart shape is polished on both sides, allowing its milky glow to shine through as a tranquil display piece.
