Beautiful Selenite heart from China

A selenite heart from China with a milky white glow and a delicate, naturally grown structure. Depending on the incidence of light, the stone shows a delicate, almost moon-like shimmer.

Selenite is a translucent variety of the gypsum mineral (CaSO₄·2H₂O) with a Mohs hardness of 2. The characteristic light-conducting property is created by the parallel arrangement of the crystal fibers, which transmit light along the fiber axis.

Selenite is water-soluble and very soft. The heart was cut from a solid selenite block and fully polished. The individual grain and light effect are different for each specimen.
