Timeline
From the first finds at the Klippeneck to Alexander's crystal cellar, the museum and the new logistics hall: nine stations, one family business. Tip: every image can be enlarged with a click.
1973
Schon als Kleinkind sammelt Alexander Müller Fossilien und Mineralien, die ersten Funde macht er am Klippeneck bei Denkingen. Mit etwa zwölf Jahren sind Kinderzimmer, Garage und Keller der Eltern vollständig gefüllt, also verkauft er die ersten Stücke auf Floh- und Krämermärkten. Oft ist er mit dem Fahrrad und vollgepackten Satteltaschen zu den Baustellen und Steinbrüchen der Schwäbischen Alb unterwegs, stets mit Hammer und Meißel.
1991
Auf der Suche nach besonderen Mineralien reist Alexander ab 1991 regelmäßig zu bedeutenden Fundorten, oft begleitet von seiner damaligen Freundin und heutigen Ehefrau Birgit. Besonders prägend sind die Touren nach Südbrasilien: Besuche in Minen und Abbaugebieten, enge Kontakte zu lokalen Händlern, und daraus ein verlässliches Netzwerk, das bis heute den Zugang zu hochwertigen Kristallen sichert.
1993
Die Sammlung wächst, und der Keller des Einfamilienhauses reicht bald nicht mehr aus. Die außergewöhnlichsten Kristalle bleiben in der persönlichen Sammlung, mit allen weiteren wird gehandelt. Noch gehen Birgit und Alexander ihren regulären Berufen nach, und stehen trotzdem jedes Wochenende auf Märkten. In dieser Zeit entsteht der Name, unter dem die Familie erfolgreich handelt: Alexanders Kristallkeller.
2000
Das Angebot ist längst nicht mehr nur für heimische Kunden interessant: Auf nationalen und internationalen Messen präsentiert die ganze Familie die Kristalle und Mineralien einem größeren Publikum, knüpft wertvolle Kontakte und erweitert die Sammlung stetig.
2009
Der spektakuläre Fund der damals größten Amethystdruse weltweit gibt 2009 den entscheidenden Impuls: Gemeinsam mit Birgit entsteht die Idee eines eigenen Museums, das die faszinierende Welt der Kristalle erlebbar macht. Nach fast zwei Jahren Planung und Bauzeit öffnet das Museum Welt der Kristalle im März 2011 seine Türen.
2011
Seit der Eröffnung entwickelt sich das Museum zu einem kulturellen und touristischen Ziel: Familien, Schulklassen und Reisegruppen aus vielen Ländern besuchen die Ausstellung, eine Erweiterung schafft später zusätzliche Flächen. In 15 Jahren haben rund 500.000 Besucher die Welt der Kristalle erlebt, und das Gästebuch zählt Einträge aus über 107 Nationen.
2014
Um die Kristalle dem internationalen Publikum zugänglich zu machen, ist die Familie regelmäßig auf renommierten Messen in aller Welt vertreten, darunter bedeutende Events in den USA. Längst steht dabei die nächste Generation selbst am Stand.
Heute
Der internationale Handel mit exklusiven Kristallen und Mineralien bildet heute das Zentrum des Unternehmens. Spezialisiert auf seltene wie auch außergewöhnlich große Stücke, zählt Welt der Kristalle weltweit zu den ersten Ansprechpartnern, für Unternehmen ebenso wie für private Liebhaber, getragen von einer Reputation aus Vertrauen, Expertise und absoluter Zuverlässigkeit.
2026
Mit der wachsenden internationalen Nachfrage steigen die Anforderungen an Lagerung und Logistik: Im Frühjahr 2026 entsteht eine neue, moderne Lager- und Logistikhalle, ausgelegt auf die sichere Handhabung großer Kristalle. Besonders stolz ist die Familie darauf, dass Alina und Tobias fest im Unternehmen mitarbeiten, die Grundlage, um das Familienunternehmen erfolgreich in die Zukunft zu führen.
2009
We bought an amethyst geode, almost four metres tall, at the time the most expensive stone we had ever acquired. The price was one thing, the feeling another. But when we stood before this geode, it was clear: this is something special. Not just large, not just rare, but something that touches people.
When it stood in the museum, people came, stopped, grew quiet. That honest sense of wonder, without many words. And that is exactly what matters to us to this day.
The Museum
Opened in March 2011, our museum in Dietingen shows, among other things, what is probably the world's largest amethyst geode, over four metres tall and around 100 million years old, a 220-million-year-old petrified forest from Arizona and giant crystals from all over the world, some weighing more than 3,000 kilograms. The film gives a first impression, with sound.
Who we are
Behind Welt der Kristalle stand Birgit, Alexander, Alina and Tobias Müller, complemented by permanent staff and a dedicated team of around 18 museum employees. Anyone who deals with us quickly notices: with us there are no rigid roles, responsibility arises where it is needed.

With over 1,000 tonnes of crystals across more than 15,000 square metres of exhibition space, we hold one of the most extraordinary collections worldwide. Our focus is not on variety alone, but on the exceptional: pieces that impress, take up space, stir emotions and, at best, take your breath away.
We source our crystals through direct contacts with mines all over the world. With an international portfolio from over 70 countries and regular trips straight to the deposits, we ensure that provenance, quality and selection meet our own high standards. Every piece is chosen deliberately, never by chance.
As a family business in the most original sense, a customer to us is not merely a buyer, but becomes part of Welt der Kristalle. Our service is conceived as a complete package: from the first consultation through selection and organisation to shipping and personal support on site.
What we stand for
In the fossil, crystal and mineral range, customers acquire exclusively genuine natural products from us. Every single stone is a unique work of nature whose origin we know and can trace. Experienced specialists examine every piece. We stand by its authenticity with our name.
We maintain close, personal contacts with mines all over the world and are there in person several times a year. In doing so we place the greatest value on fair conditions: the people in the mines receive an appropriate price for their work, and we ensure that only adults are employed, under safe conditions.
Just as important to us is how we deal with our customers: openness, honesty and a fine sense for individual wishes. We listen and present precisely the pieces that truly fit: in expertise, in aesthetics and in their effect.
What it means to us
Without deliberate intervention, many of these crystals would never become visible, or would be lost. Whether through road construction, blasting or other interventions: often they are by-products that, without selection and safekeeping, would be irretrievably destroyed. This is exactly where we see our responsibility: to recognise special pieces, to preserve them and to give them the space they deserve.
For us this is more than trade. Every piece tells its own story, no crystal is like another. It fulfils us when people stand before a piece and feel exactly what we ourselves see in it.
Where the journey is heading
We stand for exclusivity, unique works and exceptional individual pieces, and we want to expand this position further. Our aspiration is to be, in the long term, the central point of contact for high-quality crystals and museum-grade objects. Our museum remains a place of wonder and experience.
An important element remains the building of transparent value chains: traceable and responsible, from origin to customer. And the wish to make the enthusiasm for crystals tangible for everyone, on equal terms, regardless of age or prior knowledge.
