Description

A selenite sphere from China with a gentle, milky-white glow and fine natural texture. Depending on the light, the stone displays a delicate, almost moon-like shimmer.

Selenite is a gypsum variety with the formula CaSO₄·2H₂O and a Mohs hardness of only 2. The name is derived from the Greek word for moon, 'selene', describing the soft glow of this mineral. The surface is smooth, almost velvety.

Each sphere displays its own unique grain. Important: Selenite is water-soluble and must never be cleaned wet. Dust with a soft brush when dry.
