Very large aquamarine crystals embedded in quartz from Brazil

A larger specimen with multiple aquamarine crystals from Brazil, all embedded in a common quartz matrix. 27 cm × 18 cm collector's item with dense multi-crystal genesis.

The beryl crystals first grew in the pegmatitic cavity, undisturbed in their hexagonal columnar form. The later silica-rich solution phase allowed the quartz to crystallize around them and completely enclosed them in the common matrix.

Multi-crystal inclusions like these are particularly valuable didactically: they show that several parallel-grown beryl columns were jointly overgrown by the later quartz phase. A clear sequence readability in the stone.

Brazilian pegmatite deposits in Minas Gerais regularly supply such multi-beryl-in-quartz specimens in collector quality. Recovery takes place from pegmatite veins, often with the necessity of carefully excavating large quartz blocks without damaging the beryl inclusions.
