Light blue water-clear aquamarine crystals with muscovite and albite rose from the Himalayas

A compact specimen with water-clear aquamarine crystals from Pakistan, embedded between muscovite mica and a striking albite rose. The light blue clarity of the beryl columns contrasts with the silvery-white background of the associated minerals.

Aquamarine is the light blue variety of beryl, colored by trace amounts of divalent iron. Water-clear columns form under very calm deposit conditions with uniform solution chemistry over long crystallization periods.

The albite rose is a late-stage plagioclase aggregation, characteristic of the final phase of pegmatitic cavity filling. It documents that the specimen has preserved the complete genesis sequence: albite rose first, then aquamarine and muscovite in parallel.

Pakistani deposits in Skardu yield aquamarine of premium clarity. The cavities in the Karakoram pegmatites are considered unusually stable with constant solution chemistry over millions of years.
