Aquamarine is a beryl with bivalent iron as the coloring trace element. The hexagonal columnar shape with characteristic longitudinal striations is the mineralogical signature of the beryl family. Such clear columns with a strong blue hue only form under constant pressure and temperature conditions over long crystallization periods.
The adjacent Muscovite roses are thinly foliated potassium aluminum micas that crystallize in rose-like or book-like forms. In the pegmatites of the Himalayas, both minerals regularly occur together, making this associated mineral constellation a diagnostic marker for premium material.
Weighing 15 kg and with a front width of 33 cm, this specimen belongs to the category of museum-quality display pieces. Material of this magnitude is typically recovered from pegmatite veins at high altitudes in the Himalayas through several days of miner's work.
A collector's item with pegmatitic educational value and visual statement character.
