A monumental aggregate specimen with clear aquamarine crystals, smoky quartz, feldspar and black tourmaline from the Himalayas. Four minerals from a pegmatitic cavity genesis, united in a single collector's piece.

Pegmatite cavities in the Himalayan fold mountains produce the rare constellation in which beryl (aquamarine), quartz (smoky quartz), plagioclase (feldspar/albite), and schorl (black tourmaline) crystallize together. The sequence of their crystallization can be read directly from the specimen: feldspar first, then beryl, quartz in parallel, and finally tourmaline in the remaining microcavities.

Such four-mineral aggregates are classified in the collector's trade as polymineralic pegmatite specimens, a textbook phenomenon that occurs in collector quality in only a few deposits worldwide.

Recovery takes place in the Pakistani and Nepalese pegmatites at altitudes above 4,000 meters. Specimens of this size are extracted from the cavities with improvised mining tools and transported down to the valley for days.
