A large, deep blue aquamarine crystal from Minas Gerais, Brazil, with a slight curvature and accompanied by black tourmaline and fine garnet crystals. A rare three-mineral constellation with visual complexity.

The slight bend of the aquamarine crystal is a post-crystallization phenomenon. During late diagenesis in pegmatite deposits, the surrounding rock can exert slight pressure, slowly deforming the originally straight crystal plastically. Such bent crystals are collector's phenomena with a clear geological narrative.

The garnet crystals are likely almandine or spessartine, both common garnet varieties in Brazilian pegmatites. In close association with the schorl tourmaline, they document the specific intermediate phase of pegmatitic mineralization.

Brazil has been a premium deposit for collector-quality aquamarine for centuries. Specimens with multi-mineral accompaniment are particularly sought after because they condense geological complexity into one piece.
