An Ammolite heart from Alberta, Canada, with special iridescence and unique color distribution across the shell surface.

Ammolite consists of the iridescent aragonite shell of prehistoric ammonites. In the Upper Cretaceous Bearpaw Shale, the shell was transformed into its present opalescent form approximately 65 million years ago under pressure and mineralization.

The heart shape is created by careful cutting from a larger shell fragment, with particular attention paid to a homogeneous distribution of iridescence.

Sealed with a synthetic resin layer to stabilize the thin aragonite layer.
