Uruguayan amethysts are known for their deep violet hues. The wide rock crystal rim forms when mineralization proceeds in the clear quartz phase for a long time before the amethyst phase begins.

The volcanic rock on the back is preserved from the cut and documents the original geode position within the basalt cushion. A mineralogical teaching constellation in the shape of a heart.
