Beautiful Amethyst Heart from Uruguay

A decorative amethyst heart from Uruguay with lilac-colored crystals in the center, framed by a dark, polished agate rim. The heart shape was cut from an original geode segment and polished at the edges.

The natural crystals inside glitter untouched and show the crystallographic structure of growth. The dark agate rim formed as the outer layer of the same mineralization in the volcanic gas bubble.

Uruguayan amethyst geodes formed approximately 100 million years ago in basaltic lava flows of the Paraná Province. The typically darker violet hues distinguish them from Brazilian material and make them particularly sought after by collectors.
