Uruguayan amethyst geode with great color and fine crystals

A natural amethyst geode from Uruguay with fine lilac-colored crystals and a brown-golden agate rim. In the lower third, a small agate eye sits as a closed mineralization island.

Uruguayan amethyst geodes originate from the basaltic lava flows of the Paraná Province and formed approximately 100 million years ago as gas bubble fillings. The typically darker violet tones distinguish Uruguayan material from Brazilian.

The rim has been cut and polished, while the volcanic host rock on the back remains visible. The fine crystals inside sparkle untreated and show their original growth pattern.
