super dark amethyst geode from Uruguay

A natural amethyst geode from Uruguay with very dark, strong violet crystals and a border of rock crystal and agate. The crystals inside reach up to 2.5 centimeters in length.

The intense violet saturation of Uruguayan amethysts is created by geochemical conditions in the basaltic lava flows of the Paraná Province. There, the geodes formed approximately 100 million years ago as gas bubbles in flowing lava.

The border has been cut and polished, while the internal crystals remain untreated and show their original growth condition. A compact geode with high color saturation and clearly legible crystallography.
