Dark Amethyst Geode with Large Crystals

A Uruguayan Amethyst Geode with large, premium crystals and distinctly dark coloration. The interior wall displays crystal points in the deep purple class typical of Uruguay.

The combination of large individual crystals and dark coloration signifies a double premium classification. Both characteristics indicate long, stable growth phases with a high iron concentration.

Uruguayan amethyst crystallizes in volcanic geodes of the Arapey Basalt Formation. The deposits in Artigas and Salto are the worldwide documented premium provenance for the darkest amethyst colorations.

The polished cross-section reveals the typical Uruguayan internal crystallography. Material of this size and coloration is manually selected.
