Beautiful fluorite sphere from China

A hand-polished fluorite sphere from China with strong violet coloration and high transparency. Fine natural inclusions refract the light, making the sphere appear vibrant depending on its position.

Fluorite (CaF₂) belongs to the halides and crystallizes cubically. The violet coloration is caused by natural radiation effects on the crystal lattice during its geological formation. Chinese deposits in Hunan and Fujian are considered an important source of clear fluorite.

On an illuminated base, the sphere casts colored reflections onto its surroundings. Polished in our own grinding facilities from superficially weathered rough stones, without destroying beautiful crystal forms for the sphere.
