Description

A green fluorite point from Guilin, China, with a vibrant color effect and naturally grown, delicate quartz crystals on one side. The stone has not been dyed or varnished.

Fluorite (CaF₂) is a cubic halide mineral. The green coloration is caused by trace elements of samarium or by natural radiation effects in the crystal lattice. The deposits in the Guilin region are known for their premium qualities of green and purple fluorites.

The combined mineralization of fluorite and quartz documents alternating formation phases at the same geological site. The point can be well illuminated from behind, then unfolding its play of light into the room.
