Citrine-Smoky Quartz Illuminated Object, cut by an artist

An artistically cut illuminated object made of citrine and smoky quartz, crafted from a Brazilian mixed crystal. The warm-toned citrine half transitions into the transparent-brownish smoky quartz element, both cut and polished from the same mother piece.

Citrine and smoky quartz are both varieties of quartz and differ only in their trace element configuration: citrine contains iron impurities, smoky quartz has traces of aluminum plus natural radiation exposure. In some deposits, both grow directly next to each other, a phenomenon regularly observed in Zambia.

The artisanal processing follows the natural color boundary: the cut emphasizes the flowing transition zone and uses the different translucency of the two quartz varieties as a design element. With internal illumination, the object gains a second lease of life, the transparent substance becoming a light carrier.

Such artist cuts are unique pieces, not mass-produced. The effort involved in polishing both quartzes together in one workpiece requires experience with the different polishing behaviors of the varieties.

A piece that combines mineralogy with sculpture, suitable for collectors who want to see naturalistic aesthetics combined with artisanal refinement.
