A fossilized jackfish (Priscacara) from Wyoming, USA, Green River. Complete skeletal profile in fine-grained shale matrix, distinct spiny rays visible on the back.

Priscacara is an extinct genus of bony fish from the Eocene, approximately 50 million years old. The Green River Formation in Wyoming is the world's most famous fossil site for Eocene bony fish.

The fine-grained shale layers allowed for premium preservation with complete skeletal structures. The paleontological identification as Priscacara is a premium classification compared to the generic bony fish designation.

The slab geometry as a wide, thin plate is suitable for wall display. The shale matrix documents the original depositional geometry in the lake sediment.
