Description

A well-preserved Claudiosaurus fossil from Madagascar. The skeleton is embedded in limestone matrix and shows the typical swimming anatomy of these marine reptiles.

Claudiosaurians (Claudiosaurus germaini) are Triassic marine reptiles from the Middle Triassic period, approximately 240 million years ago. The Malagasy deposits in the Sakamena Formation yield premium preservation finds with complete skeletal structures.

Visible are a long spine, prominent ribs, and limb bones. The preservation allows for paleontological analysis of the Triassic marine fauna.

Such vertebrate fossils from Madagascar are rare premium pieces in the global collector's market. The continuous skeletal preservation over the entire length of the animal is striking.
