Beautiful heart made of grey-blue-green agate and rock crystal from Brazil

A heart-shaped grey-blue-green agate with a rock crystal border from Brazil. The rare three-color combination shows the full mineralization history of the geode in a single piece.

The unusual grey-blue-green coloring of the agate comes from a complex mineral solution during crystallization. Traces of copper (green), iron hydroxides (blue-grey), and pure silica (clear) alternated in the concentric agate bands. Such three-color agates are a rarity.

The rock crystal border is the natural inner zone of the geode. Here were the final growth phases, in which pure, uncolored silica was deposited. The combination of agate on the outside and rock crystal on the inside shows the complete geode chronology.
