Large, beautiful, slender white rock crystal points from Zambia, Earthkeeper Crystals

A monumental specimen with two rock crystal points from Zambia, geologically classified as Earthkeeper Crystals. The slender white columns reach a height of 141 cm and weigh 480 kg. A stature size reserved in mineralogy for deposit highlights.

Rock crystal is the purest form of quartz (SiO₂), crystallizing trigonally into classic six-sided prisms with pyramidal terminations. The slender columns with a long growth axis are the result of undisturbed, slow crystallization in tectonically stable fissure spaces.

Earthkeeper Crystals is the curatorial term for rock crystals that grow to a size where they can barely be moved by hand during recovery. Such pieces are recovered with winches, and transportation from the site to the workshop is carried out in stages with crane support.

The Zambian deposit is one of the few worldwide that produces rock crystal on this scale. The geological constellation of the Karoo Basin with its deep-reaching fissure systems allows for undisturbed growth over geological time periods.
