Large single rock crystal point

Rock crystal is the purest variety of quartz (SiO₂), crystallizing trigonally in classic six-sided columns. The rhombohedral pyramidal terminations are diagnostic for quartz and clearly distinguish it from hexagonal minerals such as beryl or apatite.

Such large single points grow undisturbed over millions of years in tectonically stable fissure spaces. The clarity is a marker for homogeneous solution chemistry without trace element fluctuations throughout the entire growth phase.
