Rock crystal group with a unique special feature from Brazil

An exceptionally clear rock crystal group from Brazil. Two dominant main crystals stand sculpturally, leaning towards each other in an open composite growth.

The upper tip is large, slender, and almost crystal clear. A second termination grows laterally from the shared base. In the lower third, further smaller tips can be seen as accompanying growth.

Rock crystal belongs to the quartz family. This pure, colorless variety crystallizes in pegmatitic veins when the hydrothermal solutions are free of coloring trace elements.

The unique form of this group arises from the growth direction of the main crystals. They have not aligned parallel, as is typically the case, but form an open, almost dancing composition.

Such asymmetrical growth patterns occur when crystal growth takes place in an irregularly shaped cavity. Changing flow conditions during mineralization can also create such effects.
