Beautiful labradorite from Madagascar

A Labradorite piece from Madagascar, hand-carved locally from a single block. The stone displays a strong blue and golden schiller with clearly discernible lamellar structures.

The color is completely natural. Only the surface was cut and polished; nothing was dyed or varnished. This clarity of provenance is central in the Labradorite trade.

Labradorite is a plagioclase feldspar with the formula (Ca,Na)(Al,Si)₄O₈. Labradorescence is caused by light refraction on lamellar structures within the crystal, making the mineral one of the most optically dynamic feldspars.
