Beautiful labradorite from Madagascar

A labradorite from Madagascar, hand-cut from a single piece. The stone shows a strong blue-golden shimmer on the polished display side. The color is completely natural; nothing has been dyed or varnished.

This optical effect is called labradorescence and is caused by thin, closely spaced lamellar layers in the plagioclase feldspar. Incident light is refracted within these lamellae, resulting in the iridescent play of colors.

For decades, Madagascar has supplied the highest quality labradorite material worldwide. Such gallery-sized pieces are hand-cut and polished on-site.
