Pallasites are stony-iron meteorites, whose iron-nickel matrix is permeated with olivine crystals (magnesium-iron silicate). They formed at the core-mantle boundary of differentiated asteroids and are considered the most visually dramatic meteorite classification of all.

Pallasites are among the rarest meteorite types worldwide. Less than one percent of all known meteorites belong to this group. Material of slice quality is a premium gemological classification.

The polished cross-section fully reveals the pallasite geometry. Iron-nickel matrix, olivine inclusions, and occasional sulfide traces form an extraterrestrial composition.
