Onyx is a variety of chalcedony with the formula SiO₂ and a Mohs hardness of 6.5. Its black coloration is caused by organic inclusions and has made the mineral a classic gemstone since antiquity.
The necklace is suitable as a fashion statement or as a healing stone necklace in the tradition of lithotherapy. It is suitable for everyday wear and robust due to its high Mohs hardness.
