Aragonite Lamp

An Aragonite lamp from Mexico, crafted from untreated natural stone. The slender aragonite and calcite plates have been precisely fitted together and matt polished.

Aragonite and calcite are both modifications of calcium carbonate. They differ in their crystal system: aragonite crystallizes orthorhombic, calcite trigonal. The warm honey and amber tones are created by organic trace inclusions.

The piece is a unique item by a Mexican artist. Cut, ground and polished, but not varnished or colored. The built-in light source illuminates the translucent stone structure.
