Aragonite Lamp

An Aragonite Lamp from Mexico. Semi-transparent aragonite material in a distinctive vertical columnar form, curated into an illuminated lamp.

Aragonite is an orthorhombic calcium carbonate modification (CaCO₃). The Mexican deposits in Sonora provide high-quality aragonite material with distinctive banding geometry and warm color spectra.

The lamp processing is a curatorial staging decision concerning the raw material. Aragonite is semi-transparent, so internal lighting allows light to shine through the material, creating warm micro-reflections on the crystalline structures.

The vertical columnar dimension creates a distinctive display cabinet presence. Cutting and lamp processing are carried out in specialized workshops in the region.
