An ametrine crystal from Bolivia. Material from the Anahí mine in the Pantanal wetlands, the world's only commercial source of ametrine.
Its geographical location on the Paraguay River makes material transport logistically challenging to this day. Anahí material is a geological singularity.
Ametrine contains purple amethyst and yellow citrine in a single crystal, separated by a sharp geometric boundary line. The zonal combination of both quartz varieties in one crystal has only been documented in this deposit.
According to historical tradition, the Anahí mine was discovered in the 17th century by Spanish conquistadors. The daughter of a local chieftain, named Anahí, is said to have been married to a conquistador. She presented him with the mine as a dowry.
Protect from direct sunlight, may fade over time. Wipe clean with a soft cloth.
