An ametrine crystal from Bolivia. Purple amethyst and yellow citrine in a single crystal, separated by a sharp geometric boundary line.
The Pantanal wetland, where the Anahí mine is located, is one of the largest freshwater wetland regions in the world. The geological history of the region includes Tertiary sedimentary deposits with hydrothermal mineralization episodes.
Ametrine is a geologically unique variety of quartz. The only commercially viable deposit worldwide is the Anahí mine in the Bolivian Pantanal wetland.
According to historical tradition, the Anahí mine was discovered in the 17th century by Spanish conquistadors. The daughter of a local chief named Anahí is said to have been married to a conquistador. She gave him the mine as a dowry.
Protect from direct sunlight, may fade over time. Dry clean with a soft cloth.
