An ametrine crystal from Bolivia. A rare two-color quartz variety that combines purple amethyst and yellow citrine in a single crystal, separated by a sharp geometric boundary line.
Bolivian ametrine typically comes with a deposit certificate. It documents the Anahí mine provenance. Without such a certificate, authenticity is more difficult to prove.
Ametrine is a geologically unique quartz variety. The only commercially viable deposit worldwide is the Anahí mine in the Pantanal wetlands, Bolivia.
According to tradition, the Anahí mine was discovered in the 17th century by Spanish conquistadors. The daughter of a local chief, named Anahí, is said to have married a conquistador and given him the mine as a dowry.
Protect from direct sunlight, may fade over time. Dry clean with a soft cloth.
