An Ametrine crystal from Bolivia with clearly separated amethyst and citrine zones within the same crystal. A natural, untreated bi-color quartz variety.
Unlike the global citrine market, which consists predominantly of heated amethyst, Bolivian ametrine is natural, untreated material. The bi-color division occurs directly during growth, not through subsequent heat treatment.
The only commercially viable deposit in the world is the Anahí mine in the Pantanal wetlands, Bolivia. Violet amethyst and yellow citrine are separated by a sharp geometric boundary line.
According to historical tradition, the Anahí mine was discovered in the 17th century. The daughter of a local chief, named Anahí, is said to have been married to a Spanish conquistador and given him the mine as a dowry.
Protect from direct sunlight, may fade over time. Dry clean with a soft cloth.
