An Ametrine crystal from Bolivia, a rare two-color quartz variety with purple amethyst and yellow citrine in a single crystal. A sharp geometric boundary line separates the two zones.
The material is recovered manually from the Anahí Mine. Larger mechanical equipment is not practical in the Pantanal swamp. Miners work in seasonally limited phases during the dry season.
The only commercially viable deposit worldwide is the Anahí Mine in the Pantanal wetlands, Bolivia. This makes each piece direct evidence of this single geological source.
According to historical tradition, the mine was discovered in the 17th century. The daughter of a local chieftain, named Anahí, is said to have married a Spanish conquistador and brought him the mine as a dowry.
Protect from direct sunlight, may fade over time. Dry clean with a soft cloth.
