Beautiful heart-shaped rock crystal geode

A rock crystal geode in heart shape from Brazil. The piece features a particularly compact geode geometry with dense crystal arrangement inside.

Compact geodes with dense crystal arrangements are particularly good in terms of volume efficiency, with little 'empty space' between the crystals and a high mineral substance per unit volume. This material concentration makes such pieces feel heavier than their size suggests.

Brazilian rock crystal geodes in the Serra Geral Formation have been intensively mined since the 1960s. The material quality varies between different sediment layers; premium pieces are manually selected.

The heart-shaped cut processing of the exterior typically uses diamond grinding tools due to quartz hardness (Mohs 7).
