The shape variation caused by its origin makes this piece particularly interesting mineralogically. Shimmering inclusions are caused by embedded micro-structures or reflective internal cleavage planes.

Madagascan citrines belong to the rare category of natural, unheated citrine. Iron substitutions in the quartz lattice create the golden yellow color directly from the deposit without subsequent heat treatment, a gemologically valuable classification.

The cut follows the natural hexagonal quartz geometry. Material in this format is recovered from the Itasy deposits and processed into collector's items in Antananarivo.
