Triple crystals form when three individual quartz crystals grow in parallel from a common nucleus and appear as a connected three-point aggregate in their final form. In block size, this constellation is a find-specific collector's characteristic.
Smoky quartz discoloration occurs due to natural radiation excitation of aluminum substitutions in the crystal lattice. The intensity of the discoloration documents the radiation dose and growth time.
Zimbabwean pegmatites provide premium material of cutting quality. The deposits in the Karoi region have been documented since the 1970s for clear smoky quartz pieces with distinct crystal geometry.
The combination of triple geometry and uniformly colored points is a dual collector's classification. Three points, a common base, uniform smoky tone, manual polish finish.
Quartz (SiO2) is the most common mineral in the upper Earth's crust; smoky quartz is the radiation-induced discoloration variant. Aluminum replaces silicon in a small proportion of the crystal lattice, and color centers are formed under radiation.
The symmetrical point geometry makes the triple stone an expressive display element. It stands upright from every main view and shows the three points as an equally important geometric motif.
Protect from direct sunlight, may fade over time. Dry clean with a soft cloth.
