Large smoky quartz with large citrine inclusion from Zambia

A large smoky quartz from Zambia, with a striking citrine inclusion inside. A two-quartz-variety constellation in a single aggregate, relevant for collectors and quartz specialists.

Smoky quartz and citrine are both quartz varieties and differ only in their trace element configuration. Citrine contains iron traces, smoky quartz aluminum traces plus radiation exposure. An inclusion of both in one aggregate documents complex deposit conditions with oscillating solution chemistry.

The sequence of mineralization is readable on the stone: Citrine crystallized first, then the smoky quartz phase began and overgrew the citrine core. A visible growth stratigraphy.

Zambian deposits from Kalomo are considered a premium source for such multi-variety quartzes. The clarity of both phases allows for visual comprehension of the internal structure.
