Chevron Amethyst point with great marbling

A polished chevron amethyst point from Namibia, with clear V-shaped banding in purple and white. The growth lamination follows the longitudinal axis of the column, making each phase of crystallization visible as a distinct layer.

Chevron amethyst forms due to oscillating solution chemistry in pegmatitic cavities: the trace element concentration alternates between iron-bearing phases that promote amethyst growth and purer rock crystal phases. The result is the characteristic triangular striped grain.

The Namibian deposits in the Erongo region have been established as a collector's source for chevron amethyst for decades. Material from this region shows high-contrast bands that are particularly emphasized when polished.

At 26 cm tall, this point is designed as a display piece. Its size allows several clearly separated growth phases to be made visible without getting lost in intricate cuts.
