Amethyst Crystal - Single Point /Ametrine

An ametrine crystal from Bolivia, a geologically unique two-zone quartz variety from the alpha quartz modification. The sharp boundary line between the purple and yellow sectors is visible along the entire height of the crystal.

Quartz (SiO₂) exists in various polymorphic modifications. Ametrine belongs to the alpha quartz modification, which is stable below 573 °C. In this phase, the two-zone color division remains permanently.

Purple amethyst and yellow citrine are found in the same crystal, separated by a sharp geometric boundary line. The only commercially viable deposit worldwide is the Anahí Mine in the Pantanal wetlands, Bolivia.

According to historical tradition, the mine was discovered in the 17th century by Spanish conquistadors. Anahí, the daughter of a local chieftain, is said to have been married to a conquistador and given him the mine as a dowry.
