Amethyst Crystal - Single Point / Ametrine

An ametrine crystal from Bolivia, a two-zone quartz with clearly defined amethyst and citrine areas. The sharp boundary between the violet and yellow sectors runs perfectly straight through the polished cut.

Quartz has a Mohs hardness of 7, higher than hardened steel. This hardness makes ametrine mechanically robust and scratch-resistant. Jewelry processing is possible without special tools.

The only commercially viable ametrine deposit in the world is the Anahí mine in the Pantanal wetlands, Bolivia. According to historical tradition, it was discovered in the 17th century by Spanish conquistadors. Anahí, the daughter of a local chieftain, is said to have brought the mine into a marriage as a dowry.

The sharp boundary line between the violet and yellow areas is the key gemological characteristic. It runs perfectly straight through the crystal, without a transition zone.
