Amethyst forms in volcanic geodes within the Serra-Geral Basalt Formation from silica-rich solutions. The depth of its color depends on the iron concentration in the solution reservoir and the duration of radiation exposure. This geode displays the most compact, darkest hue that Uruguayan deposits can produce.

Such premium geodes are classified in the collector's market as top-grade Uruguay and represent the pinnacle of the amethyst classification hierarchy. The material is selectively chosen by experienced miners, often only after examining several geodes.
