A petrified conifer wood slice from Madagascar of a approximately 220-million-year-old araucaria, a polished cross-section slab with a recognizable annual ring structure.

Petrified wood from Madagascar originates from the Triassic Period. Silicic groundwater solutions penetrated cell by cell into the wood tissue and molecularly replaced the organic substance with quartz, agate, and jasper.

The slice was diamond-cut and polished to a high sheen on one side. The original stone surface is scratch-resistant; nothing has been varnished or colored. The bark structure is preserved all around.

Noticeable is the light, grayish tint with warm yellow accents from iron and manganese inclusions. The clearly recognizable annual rings document the growth phases of the Triassic tree.

The petrified wood contains gemstone minerals such as agate, jasper, and quartz. The piece was cut and polished in Europe.
