Geode pairs are formed when a geode splits along its central axis. The two halves are presented together, revealing the full cavity geometry.

Yellow calcite crystals, as a secondary mineralization phase, grew on already formed quartz points after the amethyst growth was complete. Iron substitutions in the calcium carbonate lattice create the warm yellow coloration.
