Great fuchsite sphere for the garden

A very large polished Fuchsite Sphere from chrome-rich mica schist, found at the North Cape in Norway. The vibrant green color is created by embedded chrome-muscovite, whose fine platelets refract light with a matte shimmer.

Fuchsite is a chromium-bearing variety of the mica mineral muscovite. The chromium content gives the mineral its characteristic apple-green to emerald-green coloration. Mineralogically, it belongs to the phyllosilicate group and crystallizes monoclinically in thin bladed aggregates.

Shaping a sphere from such material is challenging because fuchsite schist easily splits along the cleavage planes. A smoothly polished sphere of this size is the result of specialized stonemasonry, presumably prepared in Brazil or China from the Norwegian rough block.

The large, heavy format is designed as a garden or entryway sculpture. Robust enough for outdoor display and large enough to act as a tranquil centerpiece for a flower bed or water garden.

A sculptural piece that combines mineralogical substance with artisanal refinement, a statement piece rarely available in this size.
