Great amethyst geode with agate eye in metal stand from Brazil

A well-balanced amethyst geode from Brazil with a large agate eye on the front. Delicate lilac-colored amethyst crystals enclose the open cavity, and the agate eye shows the typical concentric ring structure.

Agate eyes form when the geode is first lined with a layer of chalcedony before the amethyst crystals attach themselves inwards. The polished cut visibly exposes this sequence of genesis.

The geode stands in a metal stand and can be viewed from all sides. The large agate eye is a design accent that makes the piece immediately recognizable.
