Beautiful, handy amethyst geode in a metal stand from Brazil

A handy amethyst geode from Brazil, mounted on a simple metal stand. The inner surface shows delicate lilac-colored amethyst crystals, framed by a strikingly clear rock crystal rim.

An additional layer of red and white agate surrounds the rock crystal edge. This band marks the older generation of silica growth before the final amethyst phase.

The back consists of the original volcanic rock, a basalt. It documents the formation in an approximately 100 million-year-old gas bubble.
