Beautiful, well-balanced amethyst geode in a metal stand from Brazil

A well-formed amethyst geode from Brazil in a sturdy metal stand, set with delicate lilac-colored crystals and a clear quartz rim.

The rock crystal rim impressively frames the crystal surface, surrounded by a slightly reddish agate border. The back consists of original basalt from the primary volcanic matrix.

Such geodes are cavity fillings of a roughly hundred-million-year-old gas bubble, in which SiO₂ crystallized layer by layer. The iron content controls the violet coloration.

Brazil is one of the classic amethyst provinces worldwide, with characteristically light to medium color saturation compared to the deeper Uruguayan material.
