Beautiful, handy amethyst geode in a metal stand from Brazil

A handy amethyst geode from Brazil in a robust metal stand, set with dark purple crystals of fine structure and intense color.

A striking feature is the central indentation, which adds depth to the crystal surface. The thick quartz rim is enclosed by a reddish agate border, a contrasting frame for the rich amethyst center.

The reverse side consists of original basalt from the volcanic matrix. The geode formed in a gas bubble approximately one hundred million years ago, where SiO₂ crystallized into amethyst with an iron supply.

Brazil is one of the classic amethyst provinces worldwide, with characteristically light to medium color saturation compared to Uruguayan material.
